Tried & Tested: Bee Sting facial at Hairven, Gedling

WITH its many hair stations, shelves of products and bustling atmosphere, the Hairven salon in Gedling is a slice of city luxury away from the centre.

I was invited down to the salon to try out their popular Bee Sting Facial.

I’m always curious to try out the latest treatments in the industry and with a name involving the world “sting” I was unsure what to expect. But as soon as I was led into one of the salon’s many treatment rooms, my apprehension soon started to fade.

Starting with a quick consultation, I was asked by my beauty therapist about my skin type and concerns, and what I wanted to see in terms of results.

I have quite dry and dehydrated skin, so I wanted to see a bit of a glow and moisture added back to my face. The facial is also advertised as “nature’s answer to Botox”, so I was looking forward to seeing the results.

Lying on the comfortable massage bed, the treatment uses various Heaven skincare products to firm, cleanse and moisturise the skin, all whilst slowly massaging any stress and worries away.

The bee sting bit comes at the end. A soothing face mask was applied which includes a touch of bee venom, aiming to firm and reduce wrinkles. There were no actual bees involved, which was a relief!

But this facial gives something a little bit extra – it involves an arm, leg and foot massage. This was definitely an added bonus which I haven’t experienced before when having a facial – and I’ve had my fair share!

It was a completely soothing hour, and the feeling of knowing that every inch of make-up was cleansed from my face was refreshing.

The glow that I hoped for was there, and despite having no make-up on, I was looking forward to showing the results off.

For only £55, I can honestly say it was one of my favourite facials to date. The treatment room is clean, plush and luxurious, and the team at Hairven are friendly and welcoming.

If the sound of a Bee Sting Facial doesn’t tickle your fancy, the salon offers a menu of treatments for your hair, skin and nails.

Their treatments have been so highly regarded in fact that the salon has achieved a “five” status in the Good Salon Guide, and been named East Midlands Salon of the Year two years in a row.

So if you’re looking for an award-winning salon hidden in Nottingham, it’s worth a visit. It’s now my go-to place for a spot of pampering and me time.
